“By having this data, the government of Taunton — the mayor’s office and the council — will know whether or not this will be a positive fit in our community,” Hoye said. That agreement will be in place before voters have their say in a June 9 referendum. If Taunton’s voters do not approve the casino proposal, the gambling resort will not be built in the city. “We need to compile all the data and allow the residents of Taunton to be able to make an informed decision on this potential facility,” Hoye said.
